Surviving Sports

Hello to all you conversationalists,

I want to know how the conversations on sports are going? Hopefully you feel competent and willing to jump in to a group of people talking about sports, and that you're able to keep up.

I have found with me, I can't have sports without food. It's like one without the other is a cardinal sin. Some people say they only need sports, they don't need food. I'm over in the corner turning into Godzilla, about to hammer down on the TV with my giant foot if I don't get some type of bean dip in my stomach.

Getting me to sit and watch a full sporting event on TV or live requires some type of food, or craft that makes me feel sporty. When I say craft I mean something like bedazzling a jersey, of my husbands favorite team.

Below I'm going to give you some of my favorite foods/crafts I have made to get me through countless hours of sporting events.

Jalapeno Pepper Dip- Shut the front and back door, I could lick this straight from the platter it is that good. It's creamy but has a nice kick to it. You can eat it with bread or crackers.

 Ingredients
1 8 oz cream cheese
1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix
2 jalapeno peppers  diced (remove all seeds). If you want it hotter, use 4 peppers.
1/3 cup cooked and crumbled bacon  (save a bit for the garnish)
2 cups sour cream
2 tablespoon chopped onion
1 tablespoon parsley

DIY Football Yarn Wreath: I'm not super crafty, but this I felt I could handle. I did it for the San Fransisco 49ers. So I took red and gold yarn and the felt banner I made with black, white and red pieces. It turned out SO adorable, then broke because I didn't have a hanger for our door so it hung on a chair until it fell one to many times.

If I can do it, ANYONE can do it

NBA (National Basketball Association)

NBA Lottery

Yesterday was a big day for the NBA, and all its fans. It was the NBA lottery; this lottery decides the drafting order next month. Personally I was hoping the Jazz would get first picks and get Brother Parker to come play in Utah. Yet, the odds were not in our favor.

If you don’t know what the lottery is or how it works, it’s ok because I didn’t either, until I had a sit down lesson with my husband. Now I find myself a pro in the subject of the NBA lottery. So lets dig in and put the lottery in layman’s terms.

The Lottery is broken down as so:
·      14 teams who essentially played horribly the previous season (i.e. did not make the playoffs) are put into the Lottery.
·      From those 14 teams three teams are picked to be the top three to pick first, second and third in the first round of the draft.
·      Their prize? Getting first dibs on amateur players, who rank the top in the college basketball realm.

So you may be asking, “Why is it called a lottery?” Each of the 14 teams is given a probability of them getting the number one pick. So look at it this way, out of 100 lottery tickets, the worst team on record has 25 tickets that can be drawn to get the first round pick, the second worst team has 20 tickets and so on until you get to the best of the worst teams. So the probability of a decent team who didn’t make the playoffs getting first picks is rare.

YET this year, in the NBA lottery that took place last night, the Cleveland Cavaliers had the 9th best odds with 1.7 percent change of getting the number one pick. They got the number one pick. Not only did they get the number one pick, this is the second year in a row that they have gotten this pick (this doesn’t happen) Just look at twitter, or get on ESPN, people are not happy with the Cavs getting the number one pick again.

So the Lottery picks are below

So now you know who is doing the top picks in the first round, lets look at the top players to be drafted
